Il s\u2019est appropri\u00e9 les codes esth\u00e9tiques et iconographiques de la grande peinture d\u2019histoire occidentale, reprenant le format et les th\u00e8mes de tableaux c\u00e9l\u00e8bres du XIX<sup>e<\/sup>si\u00e8cle, comme ceux de Delacroix, mais en mettant en sc\u00e8ne des membres des Premi\u00e8res Nations.
